Document forgery/ 6 Kapshtica Customs officials are being prosecuted

Three customs officers at the Kapshtica customs office, as well as three officials of this customs office, accused of abuse of office, have been criminally prosecuted.

Customs officers were prosecuted for failing to complete customs procedures for the passage of a truck transporting food goods, registering it with suspected forged documents.

Meanwhile, the Director of Customs Investigation at the General Directorate of Customs and two Customs Investigation specialists were prosecuted after a few days ago, on the 15th, they were notified by the Anti-Smuggling Services about the case of document forgery and failed to notify the prosecutor or investigative structures.

Police notification

They abused their duty by falsifying the registration documents of a cargo of food goods, 3 customs officers at the Kapshtica Customs are being criminally prosecuted.

The Director of Customs Investigation at the General Directorate of Customs and two Customs Investigation specialists are being prosecuted for failing to notify the competent authorities, leading to serious consequences for the investigation of the case.

The Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Specialists at the Korça Local Police Directorate referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated in absentia for the criminal offense of "Abuse of Office" against the following citizens:

                • VT, 49 years old, resident of Korça;

                • EG, 45 years old, resident of Tirana;

                • AE, 39 years old, resident of Korça.

The criminal proceedings were initiated after these citizens, who were customs officers at the Kapshtica Customs, are suspected of having failed to carry out customs procedures for the passage of a truck transporting food goods on 15.04.2025, by registering this cargo with documents suspected of being forged.

Also, by the specialists for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime at the Korça DVP, criminal proceedings were initiated in absentia for the same criminal offense "Abuse of office", against the following citizens:

                • DD, 38 years old, resident of Tirana, with the position of Director of Customs Investigation at the General Directorate of Customs;

                • GT, 58 years old, and KK, 26 years old, both residents of Tirana, working as Customs Investigation specialists in the same directorate.

The criminal proceedings against them began after, on 15.04.2025, at around 22:00, they were notified of the case of forgery of documents, found near the Kapshtica Police Station by the Anti-Smuggling Services. Despite receiving this notification, these citizens did not inform the available Prosecutor or the structures for investigating crimes at the Korça Police Station until 15:00 on 16.04.2025 (after more than 15 hours), bringing serious consequences for the investigation of this case./ CNA
