A 23-year-old Albanian, who started working as a drug transport driver in Ipswich after getting into debt, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Renaldo Shyti was pulled over by police while standing in a Suffolk Retail Park car park on October 8 this year and when officers searched the car they found 22 packets of cocaine in a sock in the driver's door pocket, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

An expert estimated the individual coils could have been sold in £40 street deals for more than £800, said Benedict Peers, prosecuting.

Shyti told the police: "The things are not mine. Someone made me take them.”

When his phone was examined, it was found to contain the postcodes of the places he would send the drugs to.

During police interviews he said he had been homeless and had been asked to deal drugs in Ipswich after running up a £5,000 debt.

Shyti, of no fixed address, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply.

The court heard that before coming to the UK illegally in August last year, Shyti had been training to be a dental technician in Albania and now wanted to return to his life there. /CNA.al Source: IPS Witch Star
