Debate on foreign investments/ Rama: Invitation for collective self-reflection,

Prime Minister Edi Rama has made another reaction regarding investments in tourism. Through a post on social networks where he posted an article talking about investments in Mykonos, Rama writes that while Greece continues with these projects, Albanians fight with each other even for things that are certain.

The Prime Minister states that the entire world develops tourism and the economy by measuring how much foreign investment it attracts, while we want to measure ourselves by how much we can resist.

Further, in his reaction, Rama describes the denial of foreign investments as an invitation for collective regression, which Albania will not accept.

Rama's reaction

Greece continues to "sell itself to foreigners" successfully, while we have been put under fire from all sides, so that we fight among ourselves even for 1+1 that makes 2, and come to a crossroads, when the competition continues to race for more foreign investments...

But how can we close the roads to big capital, now that it is starting to come to Albania, after all the great effort we have made to get to this point?!

The whole world develops tourism and the economy by measuring how much foreign investment it attracts, while we will be measured by how much we resist them?!

This is an invitation for collective self-reflection, which Albania cannot, should not, and will not accept.

Here is the content of the article:

Major international hospitality brands are investing in Mykonos, where new five-star hotels from Four Seasons, Fouquet's and MGallery are scheduled to open soon.

Despite geopolitical tensions and a challenging season for tourism, Mykonos continues to remain one of the most important premium destinations in the Mediterranean.

Airlines are increasing the number of seats available on international flights for the 2026 season, with a 7.1% increase in incoming capacity.

New airline routes are also being added from Rome, London, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, further strengthening Mykonos' international connections.

A new five-star resort, worth over 100 million euros and linked to Egyptian investor Naguib Sawiris, is expected to open its doors in May 2027.
