For 11 days, protests have been taking place against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama, in Tirana, districts and the Diaspora.
Participants in the protest were citizens angry and burdened by various injustices over the past 35 years, but alongside them were also those who have served these 35 years in various governments.
Here we will mention a few names, those who yesterday emerged as the initiators of a new political movement born out of the protests.
Kristaq Kume, Edlira Çepani, Silvana Bello, Etleva Merko, etc.
Kristaq Kume was the former head of the CEC, appointed during the SP era.
Edlira Çepani has been part of the Albania Becomes Movement and a tentative candidacy for the Municipality of Tirana.
Etleva Merko was the vice president of the Albania Becomes Movement.
Silvana Bello, on the other hand, was number two in Koço Kokëdhima's Solution Party.
So, beyond the civic protest, beyond people upset and irritated with the political system, there are also certain segments, as CNA has reported, the people of Arlind Qori, Adriatik Lapaj, Soros, the people of Kokëdhima, LGBT people, and other citizens.
They are the ones who specifically stop opposition members from protesting and they are the ones who pretend to be citizens, they are the ones who expel citizens from protests, they are the ones who tell opposition members not to come to protest, they are the ones who insult honest people when they go to protest.
They seek to take the civic movement hostage to channel it into the service of Edi Rama and the government, as they only demand Edi Rama's resignation and have no clear political strategy.
The crime does not begin and end with Rama's resignation, but rather begins in 35 years of political injustice that does not begin and end only with Sali Berisha, but with those who kept him in power, with those who voted for him and elected him.
If there is a better example, these are the people who are seeking to hijack the protest today.
They are the ones who brought Rama to power, kept him in power, and re-elected him and Erion Veliaj a year ago.
First, they should come up with a sign and apologize to Albanians for bringing Edi Rama to power and re-electing him for the fourth time.
Then seek the truth in the civic protest, not only for the removal of the prime minister, but the removal of the government, demand the holding of early elections in Albania, for a better national pact for Albania, not for nonsense about flamingos and bald or curly-haired pelicans./ CNA
