Action against fuel smuggling by the Greek mafia/ 3 million euros in profits,

A fuel smuggling network that was dismantled by officers of the so-called Greek FBI, who managed to earn more than 3,000,000 euros from their activities.

As the extensive police investigation revealed, the network operated on three levels. At the top was the leadership core, led by a 38-year-old who coincidentally has the same last name as a member of the Greek Mafia who was murdered a few years ago.

Two sub-sectors operated and operated around the leading core. The first dealt with the supply of gasoline for internal combustion engines, while the second dealt with the supply of chemical solvents.

Greek media outlet Protothema reports that the network had "bases" in the areas of Attica, Trikala and Thessaloniki and had connections with unknown individuals in Poland, Bulgaria and Albania. It "imported" solvents, counterfeited fuel, "manipulated" pumps and offered marine fuel for sale to consumers who wanted heating oil without a receipt.

In this case, a total of 22 people were arrested and 8 gas stations were closed. The checks resulted in the seizure, among other things, of 789,076 euros, 5 cars, a van, 15 trucks, 10 pickup trucks, 154,037 liters of marine fuel, 88,760 liters of diesel, 3,500 liters of diesel, software at gas stations that interfered with the entry-exit system, a revolver and 46 cartridges./CNA
