The chairman and the new assemblymen of North Mitrovica are elected

Nexhat Uglanin from the ranks of the Bosnian community was elected the new chairman of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, during a meeting held on December 14.

Also, 15 new assemblymen took the oath. Only one is from the ranks of the Serbian community. He is Dushan Millunovi? from the "Serbian Survival" civic initiative. Meanwhile, two others come from the ranks of the Bosnian community.

At the beginning of November, the mayors of the four municipalities in the north, who came from the ranks of the Serbian List, but also the mayors of the Municipal Assemblies and assemblymen, resigned.

Asamblistët e rinj, sipas vendimit të Komisionit Qendror të Zgjedhjeve, do të zëvendësojnë asamblistët e Listës Serbe, që u dorëhoqën.

Zyra për Kosovën në Qeverinë serbe ka reaguar pas betimit të asamblistëve të rinj, duke akuzuar se shqiptarët “me forcë ligjore dhe lëvizje të njëanshme morën” ulëset në Kuvendin Komunal.

“Në këtë mënyrë [kryeministri i Kosovës, Albin] Kurti po përpiqet të krijojë një komunë të pastër monoetnike shqiptare në veri të Kosovës”, u tha në reagimin e kësaj zyreje.

Zyrtarët serbë kishin dhënë dorëheqje në shenjë pakënaqësie me një vendim të Qeverisë së Kosovës lidhur me riregjistrimin e makinave me targa të lëshuara nga Serbia.

Por, ndërkohë Kosova dhe Serbia, me ndërmjetësimin e Bashkimit Evropian, arritën një marrëveshje për targat.

Since December 6, tensions have increased in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs. On December 10, some local Serbs erected barricades, following the arrest of a former Serbian policeman.
