Një organizatë bamirëse për refugjatët ka dënuar qeverinë për tragjedinë e sotme, duke thënë se ajo ishte edhe "e parashikueshme" dhe "e pashmangshme". 

Tim Naor Hilton, shefi ekzekutiv i Aksionit për Refugjatët, tha se jetët e humbura në incidentin e sotëm ishin "zemërthyese" dhe do të ishin "ritraumatizuese" për refugjatët e tjerë. 

“Të jemi të qartë, tragjedia e sotme dhe ajo e ditëve të mëparshme janë të parashikueshme dhe të pashmangshme dhe të shkaktuara nga politikat armiqësore të qeverisë – të tilla si ato të shpallura dje nga kryeministri – të cilat janë krijuar për të mbajtur njerëzit jashtë dhe jo për të mbajtur njerëzit të sigurt”, tha ai. 

Z. Hilton tha se ministrat kishin "injoruar" një raport të Zyrës së Brendshme që sugjeronte se politikat parandaluese ishin joefektive. 

"Që atëherë, dhjetëra njerëz kanë vdekur në brigjet jugore, megjithatë qeveria ka dyfishuar skemat e shtrenjta dhe të kota për t'u ngurtësuar që vetëm i bëjnë më të mundshme vdekjet në Kanal," tha ai, duke bërë thirrje që qeveria të krijojë rrugë më të sigurta për emigrantët./CNA.al
