Zelensky: I will attend the G7 Summit, I want to meet with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced his intention to travel to Canada in the coming days to attend the G7 Summit, which is scheduled to take place there between June 15 and 17.

The Ukrainian leader said he hopes to meet with US President Donald Trump at the time of the Summit.

Regarding the topics of discussion that will be at the top of the Ukrainian president's agenda, he singled out as the most important: continued support for Ukraine, sanctions against Russia, and future financing of Kiev's reconstruction efforts.

"I count on a conversation with Trump at the G7. This sanctions package is very important and the final decision is still in the White House, it depends on the President of the United States," Zelensky said at a press conference in Kiev.

Trump has urged both sides to reach a peace deal and has shown growing frustration with both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin for not finding a way to end the war.

Trump has mentioned new sanctions on Russia, which has increased its airstrikes during the talks, but has so far failed to implement them./CNA
