Iran plans to buy Su-35 fighter jets from Moscow

Tehran has reached an agreement to buy technologically advanced Su-35 fighter jets from Moscow, state media in the Iranian capital announced today.

The agreement expands bilateral defense cooperation following the use of Iranian drones in Russia's war in Ukraine.

"Sukhoi-35 fighter jets are technologically acceptable to Iran and our country has completed a contract for their purchase," the Islamic Republic of Iran Radio (IRIB) announced, citing Iran's diplomatic mission to the UN.

The report had no evidence of Russian confirmation of the deal, while its details were not disclosed.

Iran's diplomatic mission to the UN also said Iran had considered buying fighter jets from several other countries, without naming them, IRIB reported./ CNA.al
