Killing of journalists in Gaza/ UN condemns the event: Serious violation of humanitarian law

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights condemned the killing of six Palestinian journalists in Gaza, saying the actions of the Israeli military represented a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

Through a post on the 'X' platform, the UN emphasizes the protection that must be shown to journalists by Israel.

"Israel must respect and protect all civilians, including journalists. We call for immediate, safe and unhindered access to Gaza for all journalists," the office said in a post on 'X'.

The drone strike late Sunday hit a tent for journalists set up outside the main gate of Gaza City's al-Shifa Hospital, killing several people.

Among the dead were Al Jazeera correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh and camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa and Mohammed Noufal./CNA
