VMRO-DPMNE celebrates the victory of the parliamentary and presidential

The VMRO-DPMNE party is celebrating a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections and the run-off for the country's president, votes that were held on Wednesday, May 8. From about 95 percent of the votes counted, this party turns out to have won 59 seats in the 120-seat parliament. For the formation of the government, 61 votes of the deputies are needed.

Meanwhile, the VMRO candidate for president, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, received 520,000 votes against the 234,000 votes received by the social-democratic candidate Stevo Pendarovski. The latter congratulated Ms. Siljanovska-Davkova on her victory, while criticizing, as he said, "those who prevented thousands of citizens from receiving ballots to vote in the presidential runoff," likely alluding to the Democratic Union for Integration.

DUI with the European Front seems to have secured 19 seats in parliament, or 133 thousand votes, while the other Albanian coalition VLEN, has received 103 thousand votes or 13 seats in parliament.

If the figures in question are confirmed by the end of the process, DUI will be the second largest party in the country, the first time in the modern history of North Macedonia for an Albanian party.

The biggest loser in these elections is considered the Social Democratic League, which, according to the data of the State Election Commission, received 18 deputies or 144 thousand votes in the six electoral units of North Macedonia.

The head of VMRO-DPMNE, Hristijan Mickovski, said that he has talked with the leaders of the VLEN coalition, Arben Taravar, Bilall Kasam and Izet Mexhit, and on Thursday he will start the meetings for the formation of the new government. Mr. Mickovski accused DUI of trying to boycott the presidential runoff, but as he said: "the government fell and the people saved the state".

"Crime, corruption, incompetence, false values, captured state, tenders, nepotism, things that made the state suffer and the people despair, tonight they were defeated," said Mr. Mickovski, threatening that, "100 DUI people and SDSM will answer for their deeds".

He promised on the other hand that in the first 100 days of his government there will be economic growth and foreign investments.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ali Ahmeti of the European Front coalition refuses to join the opposition. "The country needs stability and security", he said in a press conference with the other leaders of this coalition, Ziad Selen, Menduh Thaçin, etc.

The VLEN coalition celebrated what it calls a victory in Skenderbeu Square in Skopje, but in fact the party is about his entry into the expected government cabinet.

However, VMRO's victory is profound and it is not expected that it will offer the Albanian party a similar number of ministries as DUI and the Alliance for Albanians had in the government with SDSM.

The "Znam" party of the mayor of the Municipality of Kumanovo, Maksim Dimitrievski, has secured 5 seats in the parliament and is highly likely to enter the new government coalition. If this happens, then the expected parliamentary majority will be 77 legislators, very close to the number of two-thirds. The nationalist party "E Majta" won 6 seats in the parliament, which is also considered a success for it, considering that in the current mandate there are only two legislators./ Voa
