The best European places for summer holidays

Out of 45 countries on the European continent, Spain has been rated as the best country for summer tourism in 2024. According to the Europe Summer Tourism Index by SchengenVisainfo Spain scored the highest thanks to its popularity and beaches.

The country also scored highly for cuisine, friendly people and good weather.

In terms of costs, Spain is not the most expensive place to spend a seven-day holiday there, but it is not the cheapest either. Spain ranks as the 20th most expensive for summer tourism in 2024.

In terms of popularity, Spain, France, Greece and Italy rank highest. The least popular countries for summer tourism in Europe are Belarus, Moldova, Kosovo and Liechtenstein.

According to the Index, Switzerland is the most expensive place on the European continent to spend a week's vacation during the summer.

Other countries with the lowest affordability scores include France, Liechtenstein, Monaco and Norway.

However, Kosovo, Belarus, Serbia, North Macedonia and Lithuania are the cheapest countries in Europe for summer tourism this year.

Italy has the most delicious food in Europe

According to the Index, Italy has earned the highest points for cuisine, followed by Greece and Portugal, while Andorra and France tie for fourth. However, countries that scored the lowest for their cuisine include Malta, Cyprus, Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro.

The country in Europe with the best summer weather is Cyprus

Cyprus scores the highest for average temperatures on the European continent, suggesting it has the best weather for the summer season. Malta, Spain, Albania, Italy and Montenegro followed. Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and the United Kingdom, on the other hand, rank lowest for their weather./CNA
