Kurti: Don't glorify Faton Hajriz

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, called on the citizens of Kosovo not to glorify Faton Hajrizi, suspected of murdering a policeman in Serbia.

"I invite the citizens of our country not to fall prey to the euphoria of the heroization and romanticization of Faton Hajrizi", Kurti said at a meeting of his government, held on Wednesday.

In recent days, various accounts on social networks have distributed articles about Hajriz and his photos, accompanied by various epithets, such as "hero" and "brave".

Hajrizi was killed by Serbian authorities on July 19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo confirmed this week.

On July 18, according to Serbian authorities, he killed a Serbian policeman and wounded another in the Serbian city of Lloznica.

Hajrizi escaped from a prison in Kosovo.

Speaking at the government meeting, Kurti said that clarifying the circumstances from Hajrizi's escape to Serbia until his reported murder "requires a local and international investigation"./ REL
