Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet with United States President Joe Biden on July 25, a day after he addresses the US Congress.

The news is reported by the AFP agency, citing an American official.

The date of the meeting at the White House was undecided, as Biden contracted the coronavirus and was in isolation at his home in Dellauer.

Israel first reported that the two leaders would meet on July 23.

Netanyahu is expected to address the US Congress on Wednesday about his army's war in Gaza.

Despite this war, the US has continued to support Israel, both diplomatically and in providing weapons, but Biden has repeatedly expressed concerns about Israel's behavior.

In one case, he described it as "extreme".

The war in Gaza erupted in October last year, when Hamas - a terrorist group declared by the US and other powers - first attacked Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking hundreds more hostage.

In response, Israel is carrying out massive attacks on Gaza - the enclave controlled by Hamas.

Health authorities in Gaza say that over 39,000 people have been killed since the war began./ REL
