Israeli military intercepts several more aid ships bound for Gaza

Several more ships trying to deliver aid to war-torn Gaza were stopped by Israeli forces in international waters on Wednesday, the Freedom Flotilla coalition announced.

This is the second time Israel has stopped such ships this week.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) is an international network of pro-Palestinian activist groups that organizes civilian naval missions, with the aim of breaking Israel's blockade of Gaza and delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the enclave.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said on X that the ships and their passengers are safe and that they have been taken to an Israeli port, from where they are expected to be deported immediately.

" Another futile attempt to breach the legal naval blockade and enter a war zone ended in failure ," the Israeli ministry said.

This is the second incident of its kind in recent days, after Israel had stopped about 40 ships and arrested more than 450 activists on another aid convoy, the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was also trying to deliver aid to Gaza.

The FFC said Israeli forces had seized the humanitarian fleet, adding that the ships had been illegally detained.

The participants, doctors and journalists from around the world, have been taken against their will and are being held in unknown conditions."

" Israeli military forces have no legal jurisdiction over international waters ," the coalition added.

"Our flotilla poses no danger ," he said.

The ships were carrying aid worth over $110,000. The aid included medicines, respiratory equipment and nutritional supplies destined for Gaza hospitals, the FFC added on its Instagram account./ REL
