Gunfire in Kumanovo/ A DUI candidate is injured

Gunfire was reported in Kumanovo, North Macedonia, today. According to reports, a candidate and member of the list of councilors of the Democratic Union for Integration in Lipkovo was injured in the shooting near the Pension Fund building.

DUI itself has reacted to the incident, calling on the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecution to react immediately and bring the perpetrator to justice.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator has not been identified, because according to witnesses at the scene, he was masked. The motives for the injury are also unknown.

"We strongly condemn this barbaric act of violence and demand that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Public Prosecution react immediately, with full transparency and determination, to identify, arrest and bring to justice the perpetrators of this attack.

We call on all our supporters, sympathizers, and citizens in general to remain calm, not fall prey to provocations, and to show the prudence that has always characterized our movement.

"As a sign of solidarity with the injured and to emphasize the seriousness of the event, our party decides to suspend today's activities, while institutions take concrete steps to restore public trust and security on the ground ," the DUI's response states./CNA
