Greta Thunberg arrives in Greece / Along with her, 160 deported activists

Greta Thunberg, the 22-year-old Swedish activist, arrived in Greece on Monday evening along with 160 other activists, part of the Gaza Flotilla, stopped by Israeli forces.

Activists at Athens airport unfurled a giant Palestinian flag and erupted in chants of “Free Palestine” and “Long Live The Flotilla” as Thunberg and the other deported activists arrived. She urged the world to act to prevent Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.

"This is the largest effort ever to break Israel's illegal and inhumane sea blockade. That this mission has to exist is a disgrace. We are not even seeing the bare minimum of effort from our governments," Thunberg said.

Meanwhile, the Greek Foreign Ministry said that 134 activists had arrived in the country. In a separate press release, the Slovak Foreign Ministry said that one activist from that country and nine others were already in Slovakia.

On Monday, Israel reported that it had deported 171 activists to Greece and Slovakia. The Gaza Aid Flotilla was stopped after the Israeli state considered the ship's progress towards Gaza a violation of the prohibited zone. More than 470 people were arrested, and of those, most have already been deported. The last 138 activists of the Flotilla remain in Israel./CNA
