Ukraine strengthens the defense of its border with Belarus

Ukraine is beefing up defenses on its border with Belarus out of fear that Russia may be preparing a new attack, a government official said.

The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Yevhen Yenin, told the "BBC" that Ukraine will strengthen the border with Belarus with armed forces and ammunition.

The news became known as the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, traveled to Minsk yesterday to meet his Belarusian counterpart, Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

Belarus shares a border with Russia and Ukraine.

Lukashenka told Putin that the main issues in their recent bilateral relations have been defense and security.

“Kohërat e vështira kërkojnë që ne të kemi vullnet politik dhe të përqendrohemi në arritjen e rezultateve në të gjitha temat e agjendës dypalëshe”, tha Lukashenka gjatë takimit me Putinin, më 19 dhjetor.

Currently, Russia has thousands of troops in Belarus for training. Experts have argued that Moscow is preparing troops for a large-scale offensive early next year.
