First apostolic journey outside Italy/ Pope Leo XIV prepares to visit Turkey and

Pope Leo XIV is preparing for his first apostolic journey outside Italy, having planned to visit Turkey and Lebanon.

The Pope's trip will take place from November 27 to December 2, 2025.

The Holy See has released the schedule for the Pope's trip, which will begin in Turkey on November 27. Upon his arrival in the capital, Ankara, the Holy Father will meet with the country's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, before addressing Turkish authorities, representatives of civil society and members of the diplomatic corps. At the end of the day, the Pope will travel by plane from Ankara to Istanbul, Turkey's largest city.

On the afternoon of November 30, after a welcoming ceremony at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, Pope Leo XIV will begin the second part of his Apostolic Journey by flying to Beirut, Lebanon.

Upon his arrival, the Pope will meet and hold separate meetings with the President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister of Lebanon. He will then deliver his customary address to Lebanese authorities, representatives of civil society, and members of the diplomatic corps.

The Holy Father will then celebrate Holy Mass on the Beirut waterfront, the highlight of the trip to Lebanon. /CNA
