Turkey said it has arrested a Kosovo citizen on charges of managing the financial network of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

"Liridon Rexhepi was arrested in Istanbul on August 30, suspected of transferring funds to Mossad personnel operating in Turkey," said the Turkish Intelligence Agency MIT.

Turkey, which has condemned Israel for its war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, has this year arrested more than 20 people suspected of links to the Mossad.

The Turkish National Intelligence Agency said that Liridon Rexhepi was under surveillance since his entry into Turkey on August 25, while he is suspected of having facilitated financial transfers from Eastern European countries, mainly Kosovo, to Mossad agents in Turkey.

The statement states that the funds transferred by Rexhepi were used for information gathering in Syria and psychological operations against Palestinians.

"Rexhepi used money transfer services to transfer funds to Turkey. The funds were then distributed to operatives on the ground, who, in turn, sent a portion of the money to Syria, often using cryptocurrencies for these transactions,” the sources said.

The Minister of Justice in Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, claimed to have received some questions from the Turkish authorities, but did not give more details, due to the "sensitivity of the case", as she said.

Israel has not commented on the announcement of the Turkish authorities./ Rel
