Trump meets with Japanese Prime Minister/Talks on economic and security issues

President Donald Trump hosted Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba at the White House today.

This meeting, which began a few minutes ago, will continue with a joint press conference at 1:00 PM local time.

US and Japanese officials said economic and security concerns, particularly North Korea, would be top of the agenda, along with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Also, the topics of their discussion will include training programs and increased cooperation in defense equipment and technology, foreign investment in the US, energy exports, and ways to increase cooperation in space ventures.

The visit marks the first by an Asian leader to the White House since the start of Trump's second administration in January. / CNA
