The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, said that with the new American administration of President Donald Trump, the state aims to deepen cooperation in the field of defense and strategic investments.
Through a Facebook post, she said that she also aims to continue working with Washington on strengthening Kosovo's international position.
"American support has been and remains vital for our country," said Osmani.
The head of state of Kosovo is staying in the United States, where she has also participated in Morning Prayers, but has also held meetings at the State Department.
On February 6, Osmani said that he met with the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Brian Mast, with whom he said he talked about relations between the two countries, which, according to her, is an alliance "built on shared values ??and a commitment to peace and security."

President Osmani's statements about the aim of deepening cooperation with Washington come at a time when the Kosovo Government, led by Albin Kurti, has faced criticism from US administration officials.
On February 3, the US special envoy for missions, Richard Grenell, said that the US needs reliable partners in the Balkans, while the government of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, according to him, is not one of them.
These statements by Grenell were made a few days before the parliamentary elections in Kosovo on February 9.
Kurti's cabinet did not respond to Radio Free Europe's request regarding these comments, but speaking to a Kosovo media outlet, Istogu Channel, he reiterated that relations with the US are at their best - to which Grenell responded again, saying that they have in fact never been at their lowest point.

Kurti had also faced criticism from the previous US administration led by Joe Biden, due to several actions taken in northern Kosovo, inhabited by a Serb majority, which were related to replacing Serbian license plates with Kosovo ones, removing the Serbian dinar from use, or closing Serbian institutions.
Kurti has justified those actions as steps towards extending the rule of law to the north and has said that they are in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Kosovo.
James O'Brien, who served as Assistant Secretary of State in the administration of Trump's predecessor, Joe Biden, said that Kurti, with such actions, has called into question the partnership with the United States.
Even after this statement, Kurti insisted that the US remains Kosovo's most important partner. /REL
