Terrorist organization / Illegal immigrants from Venezuela end up in Guantanamo

More than 10 illegal immigrants from Venezuela were transferred to the most secure U.S. prison, the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp in Cuba. According to the Department of Homeland Security, some of the illegal immigrants are members of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TDA).

The TDA is an international criminal group that has terrorized American communities from New York to Colorado. As one of his first actions, President Donald Trump issued an executive order on January 20 directing the State Department and other government agencies to move to designate the TDA as a terrorist organization.

Among the Venezuelans sent to Guantanamo are a murder suspect and a man who allegedly escaped from a Venezuelan prison. /CNA
