Trump criticizes UN for creating new problems: Countries are going to hell

President Donald Trump sharply criticized the United Nations for not helping his administration's peace efforts and for "creating new problems" for the US and its member countries, while questioning its purpose and also offering "the hand of American leadership and friendship" to all countries in the organization.

The president, during his first speech of his second administration to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, emphasized renewed American strength while sharply criticizing the international body.

"The UN is not only not solving the problems it is supposed to solve, but too often it is creating new problems for us to solve," the president said. "The best example is the number one political issue of our time: the uncontrolled migration crisis. It is uncontrolled. Your countries are being destroyed."

The president said the UN is "funding an attack on Western countries and their borders."

"The UN is supporting people who are illegally entering the United States and we need to get them out," Trump said. "The UN also provided food, shelter, transportation and debit cards to illegal aliens."

He added: “The UN is supposed to stop invasions — not create them and not fund them.”

Trump said illegal immigrants are "flooding into Europe as well."

“It’s not sustainable and, because they choose to be politically correct, they’re doing absolutely nothing about it,” Trump said, adding later: “Your countries are going to hell. In America, we have taken bold action to rapidly stop uncontrolled migration.”

"Once we started stopping and deporting everyone who crossed the border and removing illegal aliens from the United States, they just stop coming. They won't come anymore," Trump said, while thanking El Salvador for "hosting and imprisoning criminals" who entered the United States.

During his speech, the president highlighted his successful efforts to negotiate peace around the world — specifically in Armenia and Azerbaijan, Thailand and Cambodia, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, among others.

"I ended seven wars, and in all cases they were raging with thousands and thousands of people killed," he said. "That includes Cambodia, India and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, Congo and Rwanda, a brutal and violent war that involved Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Armenia and Azerbaijan."

He added: "No president or prime minister, and for that matter, no other country has ever done anything like this. And I did it in just seven months. It's never happened before. There's never been anything like this."

The president then made another attack on the UN.

"I'm very honored to have done it. It's unfortunate that I had to do these things instead of the United Nations. And unfortunately, in all cases, the United Nations didn't even try to help with any of them," Trump continued. "I ended seven wars, I dealt with the leaders of every one of these countries, and I never got a call from the United Nations offering to help me finalize the deal."/  CNA
