"The ball is in their court"/ Iran: We are ready for nuclear

Iran is open to compromise on its nuclear program, provided the United States discusses lifting sanctions. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said in an interview, saying "the ball is in the American court."

"The ball is in the American court, to show that they want to reach a deal ," the Iranian official said ahead of a new round of talks in Geneva on Tuesday, adding that if the United States is sincere in its intentions, Iran will surely find a way to a deal.

Regarding the possibility of sending Iran's enriched uranium to other countries, Takht-Ravanchi said it was too early to say what would be decided or achieved during the negotiations.

The Iranian official reiterated Tehran's position that the country's missile program is non-negotiable.

"When we were attacked by the Israelis and Americans, our missiles came to our rescue. How can we accept being deprived of our defensive capabilities?" he stressed.

When asked about President Trump's apparent support for regime change in Iran, Takht-Ravanchi replied: "We don't hear anything like that in private messages."

Iran, whose leaders have vowed to destroy Israel, denies seeking nuclear weapons, although it has enriched uranium to levels that do not indicate peaceful purposes. The country has also blocked international inspectors from inspecting its nuclear facilities and has expanded its ballistic missile capabilities. /CNA
