After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-lived monarch in the United Kingdom, the hit Netflix series "The Crown" has experienced record popularity figures.

"The Crown" follows the life and reign of Elisabeth II, beginning in the late 1940s before she ascended the throne in 1952.

The series depicts important political and personal events throughout the Queen's time as monarch, from her relationship with Winston Churchill during the post-war era to her interactions with Margaret Thatcher during her 11-year tenure as Prime Minister.

How much has "The Crown" grown since the death of the queen?

According to data analysis by Whip Media, viewership for the Emmy-winning drama increased by more than 800% in the UK over the weekend.

Viewership figures also rose in the US, France and Australia: quadrupling in the US between 9 and 11 September, while tripling in France.

Globally, viewership was almost four times higher the weekend after the British monarch's death, compared to the previous weekend.

The show's fifth season will premiere in November, with Imelda Staunton taking on the role of the queen, previously portrayed by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman.
