Ukraine and Russia have expressed interest in the proposal presented by the UN nuclear agency for the creation of a safe zone around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said both countries are cooperating with the agency and raising questions about the idea.
Ukraine and the West accuse Russia of placing heavy weapons at the plant, knowing full well that Ukraine will not fire back. Moscow denies these accusations and has resisted calls for the disarmament of the area in order to avoid an environmental catastrophe./ REL
