Rising tensions in the Persian Gulf / Missiles, airstrike sirens and US plane

Persian Gulf cities have experienced a turbulent morning, as airstrikes with missiles have increased significantly throughout the day.

In Doha, residents were awakened around 8:00 a.m. local time (05:00 GMT) by the sound of explosions.

The attacks were reportedly similar to those caused by Patriot missile systems when they intercept incoming drones or missiles. Residents described the situation as disturbing, expressing fear and tension in the city.

In Kuwait, the situation worsened after a US F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet crashed. Video footage showed the plane spinning and falling with its tail in flames, while the two pilots parachuted out and were rescued by locals.

Kuwait's Defense Ministry confirmed that several American aircraft were shot down during the morning and is coordinating with the United States to determine the exact circumstances of the incidents.

Search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and all pilots involved were rescued alive.

Additional reports speak of smoke and fire coming from the direction of the US Embassy in Kuwait.

Meanwhile, in Bahrain, air raid sirens were activated after a series of bombings, part of Iran's retaliation for US and Israeli airstrikes.

This is only the third day of the conflict, and the situation remains escalating and dynamic, with high tension for citizens and military troops in the region.

Security analysts warn that the intensification of attacks and downings of American aircraft could lead to a greater escalation of the conflict in the Persian Gulf, increasing the risk to air traffic and the safety of civilians.

Regional and international authorities are monitoring the events and advising citizens to be vigilant./ CNA
