"All options are on the table"/ What is Israel warning about Hezbollah

An Israeli military spokesman has spoken out about the attacks that have been underway for several hours in Lebanon. When asked by reporters whether the Israeli military is preparing for a possible ground invasion of Lebanon, the spokesman said that "all options are on the table." He said Hezbollah made a big mistake when it chose to attack Israel overnight.

"The IDF will react very quickly and will pay a heavy price. Hezbollah opened fire on us last night. It knew exactly what it was doing," the spokesman told reporters.

What began as a conflict centered on Iran has now expanded into a multi-front confrontation, raising fears that the region may be moving closer to a wider war. The confrontation intensified when shells were fired from southern Lebanon into northern Israel.

In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out attacks on what it described as Hezbollah military infrastructure, weapons depots and command centers.

Explosions were reported in southern Lebanon and in areas on the outskirts of Beirut known as Hezbollah strongholds. Israeli officials said the operation was defensive in nature, aimed at neutralizing immediate threats rather than launching a broader campaign.

Hezbollah, the Iran-aligned group, has long positioned itself as a political and military force in Lebanon. Backed financially and militarily by Tehran, it represents one of Iran's most powerful regional allies. By firing rockets into Israel, Hezbollah signaled solidarity with Iran amid rising tensions. /CNA
