Injuries and damage from Russian attacks in Ukraine

Russian attacks on Thursday morning have caused fires and extensive damage in five districts of Kyiv, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klitschko, announced on Telegram.

Fragments of the downed drones fell in Pechersk, Holosivski, Solomiansk, Obolonsk and Podilsk districts, Klitschko said.

He added that two people were injured after being hit by shrapnel from the downed drones.

Klitschko reported that the upper floors of a multi-storey building in Pechersk were engulfed in fire and that residents were evacuated.

In Odesa, a high-rise residential building was damaged and a man was injured after Ukraine's air defense shot down a Russian drone over the Black Sea port, regional governor Oleh Kiper said.

Telegram channels published a video showing a fire on the first floor of a nine-story building in Odesa.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
