Israel signs deal to buy 25 F-15 fighter jets

Israel's Defense Ministry announced Thursday that it has signed an agreement to purchase 25 next-generation F-15 fighter jets from Boeing Co.

She said the deal, worth $5.2 billion, is part of a broad package of US aid approved by the US administration and Congress earlier this year, which also included the option for 25 additional fighter jets.

Israel will begin receiving F-15s in 2031, from 4-6 per year, she said.

The fighter jets will be equipped with Israeli weapons systems.

"These advantages will enable the Israeli Air Force to maintain its strategic superiority in the face of current and future challenges in the Middle East," the Ministry said in a statement.

The Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Eyal Zamir, said in a statement that the Israeli Government has secured procurement agreements worth nearly $40 billion since the war in the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023.

For Boeing, the deal for the sale of F-15 jets is the second major deal this year. In August, El AI Israel Airlines signed an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of approximately 31 737 aircraft, worth approximately $2.5 billion.

Ido Nehushtan, president of Boeing Israel, said the company's relationship with Israel dates back to Israel's founding and "we will continue to work with the US and Israeli governments on the delivery of advanced fighter jets, the F-15, through standard military procurement channels"./REL
