At least 20 liters of rain in 15 minutes/ Floods in northern Spain, evacuations

At least 20 liters of rain per square meter fell in just 15 minutes, causing flash flooding across the province of Zaragoza in Spain and leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded.

According to Spanish broadcaster RTVE, residents in several cities were left stranded in their homes as sudden torrential rains covered roads and drainage systems.

The hardest-hit areas included Cuarte, Cadrete and María de Huerva, where emergency services responded to more than 120 calls for rescues and evacuations.

Local media reported that firefighters and civil protection teams worked to help those stranded, while flooding also affected towns in the Valencia region, where up to 57 liters fell in 35 minutes.

Firefighters also carried out rescues in Castellon, where a person trapped in a vehicle was pulled from the car, while footage from Manises showed cars 'struggling' to navigate flooded roads./CNA
