Storm "Daniel"/ Greece closes schools in Thessaly

Schools in Thessaly, Greece will remain closed next week, following the flooding of storm Daniel.

The news was announced by the Ministry of Education in Greece, which states that this decision was made to create a safer environment for students.

The Ministry of Education announced that the lessons that students will miss next week will be replaced within the time frame of the school year.

"The Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports and the District of Thessaly, in the framework of the continuous mapping of the current situation in the network of schools in the District of Thessaly and taking into account the health parameters, the need to carry out a complete control, uninterrupted security and safe access to schools, announce the suspension of classes in all primary and secondary education units of the District of Thessaly, from Monday September 18 to Friday September 22, 2023.

From the first moment, after the unprecedented events of the floods, the political leadership of the Ministry of Health, Thessaly District, the Regional Education Directorate, the local Directorates of Primary and Secondary Education of the Thessaly District and all the bodies are cooperating closely for the return as faster of students and teachers in the school environment.
