The United States will send more weapons to Ukraine

The United States will send weapons and other equipment to Ukraine to help the country deal with Russian aggression, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement on Friday.

The $125 million worth of armaments preceded further military aid to Kiev, which could include $300 million worth of laser defense systems to be used to shoot down Russian drones, according to a document from to which the Reuters news agency refers.

The amount of weapons is expected to be announced on Friday evening.
For the delivery of the latest armaments, presidential authority is being used, which allows President Joe Biden to transfer equipment and weapons from the reserves of the United States, without the approval of Congress, in response to an emergency.

Democratic President Joe Biden has called on US lawmakers to approve more financial aid to Kiev, but lawmakers in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives this week approved only a package to help Israel fight Hamas.
