The head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has commented on the statements of the President of Ukraine, who earlier said that Russia is trying to instigate war in the Balkans as well.

Stoltenberg announced that NATO will do everything to maintain stability in the region, because it is important, not only for the region, but for all of Europe and NATO.

"NATO will do whatever it takes to maintain stability in the region, because it is important, not only for the region, but for all of Europe and NATO," Stoltenberg said.

Also in his statement, Stoltenberg underlined the fact that tensions between Kosovo and Serbia are increasing, mentioning the conflicts that happened before, such as aggression in the municipalities and the attack in Banjska where the police officer, Afrim Bunjaku, was killed.

"What we saw there is that tensions are rising. We have seen rising tensions and divisive rhetoric in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have seen several serious incidents of violence in Kosovo, including the attack on NATO peacekeepers where 93 soldiers were injured, some of them with serious injuries.

And we also saw the Banjka incident where several people were killed in September in Kosovo. These are serious incidents and we must remain focused on the Western Balkans and at the same time on the war in Gaza and to continue to support Ukraine," said Stoltenberg.

The head of NATO emphasized that he will work with the EU and the missions to maintain stability in the Balkans.

"We will work together with partners, allies in the region to ensure that we do what it takes to reduce tensions," said Stoltenberg./ CNA
