Russia attacks Kiev and Kharkiv with drones, thousands of people remain without

The Russian army attacked the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, as well as the second largest Ukrainian city, Kharkiv, with drones during the night between March 25 and 26.

Ukrainian engineers have struggled to fix the power grid damaged by earlier Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, leaving thousands of people without power.

The Ukrainian military said on Tuesday that it shot down 12 Russian drones that were headed towards Kiev.

No casualties were reported and it is not clear if any damage was caused.

In Kharkiv, regional authorities said at least eight Iranian-made drones attacked Ukraine's second-largest city, but that air defenses shot them down.

On Monday, Russia continued drone attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, causing power outages in several regions.

The targets of the attacks were the Black Sea port city of Odesa, as well as Mykolaiv.

Oleh Kiper, regional governor of Odesa, said more than 300,000 residents were left without power on March 25.
