Russia issues an arrest warrant for the Eurovision winner from Ukraine

The Prosecutor's Office of Moscow announced on Wednesday that it has issued an arrest warrant for the winner of the European Song Festival "Eurovision", Jamala, who has Tatar roots from Crimea, under accusations of spreading "false" information about the involvement of the Armed Forces of Russia in the occupation of Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Russia's Interior Ministry put the singer, whose real name is Susana Dzhamaladinova, on the wanted list.

In 2016, Jamala won the Eurovision Song Contest with a ballad that described the brutal deportation of Crimean Tatars from Crimea to Central Asia in 1944 by Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.

In 2023, Jamala recorded an album with the title "Crimea", in which she collected ancient songs about her people.

She has repeatedly raised her voice against Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and against Russian armed aggression in Ukraine.

In April 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia put him on the list of Ukrainian artists who are banned from entering Russia for 50 years.
