Russia has declared its full support for Serbia after the situation created in the North.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has confirmed Russia's position on Serbia.

"We stand by the Serbs living in Kosovo. We believe that the demands of the Kosovo authorities are absolutely groundless", he said.

There was also a reaction from the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

The latter has asked Pristina to stop provocations and protect the human rights of Serbs living in the northern region.

 "Tensions involved both sides after Kosovo announced new border rules for Serbs entering the country. Although Kosovo declared independence in February 2008, the country is not recognized by Russia, China, Serbia and the United Nations (UN) in general. However, over 100 countries recognize Kosovo's sovereignty. The new border rules were set to come into effect on Monday, but their implementation was delayed due to protests by Serbs in northern Kosovo, who rejected Pristina's move on license plates and IDs, Russian media reported. .

Zakharova also marked the EU mission.
