In Merdare, a few minutes after midnight, the first entry/exit document for a citizen of Serbia was issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo.
The Minister of the Interior in Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, has said that this decision will continue to be implemented "until all the barricades are removed and the freedom of movement of citizens and goods is ensured".
"At the moment of removal of all barricades and obstacles, this decision will be suspended until September 1, 2022", he said through a post on Facebook.
This document would be issued at all land and air crossing points, and would be valid for 90 days, just like the document that the Serbian authorities issue to Kosovo citizens when they enter Serbia.
Likewise, on Monday, the decision to re-register cars with license plates bearing the abbreviations of the cities of Kosovo issued by Serbia was expected to enter into force. It is estimated that 10,000 cars with license plates such as KM (Mitrovica of Kosovo), PZ (Prizren), UR (Ferizaj) and similar, circulate in the municipalities in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs.
According to the decision taken on June 29 by the Government of Kosovo, the deadline for re-registration of cars would last until September 30./REL
