The Ukrainian government dismisses the deputy minister of defense
Oleksandr Pavlyuk,

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pavlyuk, has been dismissed from his position, the Government announced on February 10.

This is another decision taken by the Ukrainian authorities as they restructure the leadership, as the country's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, believes that the army needs changes.

The decision was announced on Telegram by Taras Melnychuk, the government representative in the Ukrainian Parliament, who said that Pavlyuk had been transferred to another position, but did not elaborate.

Melnychuk has not indicated who will be appointed to the position held by Pavlyuk.

On February 9, Zelensky appointed General Anatoliy Barhilevych as head of the army general staff, after appointing General Oleksandr Syrskiy as military commander-in-chief.

Zelenskiy has described Barhilevych as "an experienced individual who understands the task of the war and the objectives of the war."

The Ukrainian president has also said that Syrskiy has identified the candidates for the positions of his assistants, but he did not mention their names, he only said that they have experience in the army and are clear about the needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

Syrskyi is considered the architect of Ukraine's most important victory in the war, the counteroffensive in the eastern Kharkiv region in September 2022, driving Russian military forces from the cities of Kupyansk and Izjum.

The changes at the head of the Ukrainian army come at an important time for Ukraine, which has failed to regain large parts of the territory occupied by Russia after the start of the war in February 2022.

In addition, Kiev could face a freeze on military aid from the United States, its biggest backer, after Republican lawmakers blocked a $61 billion aid package as they demanded more changes in US policy. of migration./ REL
