The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, told the British broadcaster BBC on Sunday that he cannot compromise with the democratic republic, and that the municipal buildings in the three municipalities in the north - Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zveçan - are assets of the Republic of Kosovo. .

Commenting on the recent tensions in the north, Kurti said that Kosovo can reduce the number of police officers in municipal buildings, if in advance, what he described as gangs - financed by Belgrade - go "either to Serbia, or in prisons".

"In these three municipalities, Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zveçan, we have three buildings, and if not the mayors, then who should be in them? If they are not for the leaders, who do they serve? The presidents are in their offices, and that's how it should be. Those buildings are assets of the Republic of Kosovo. They used to be parallel structures of Serbia, but they are illegal structures, created with the funds of the official Belgrade, which wants to destabilize our country, with the idea of ??Belgrade to create a big Serbian world. We oppose something like that." Local Serbs have been protesting regularly since May 29 in Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok, to oppose the entry of new Albanian mayors into municipal buildings.

Members of the Serbian community boycotted the April elections, which were won by the Albanian candidates.

On May 29, the protest escalated into violence between members of the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR and Serbian protesters.

During the conversation, Kurti admitted that the new leaders have weak legitimacy, but said that, however, "the others have none at all".

The international factor has increased the pressure on the Government of Kosovo, demanding the withdrawal of mayors from municipal buildings and the holding of new elections.

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, have given signs that new elections can be organized.

Kurti was also asked about the attitudes of the international factor regarding his decisions and if he is worried about something like that.

He said that Kosovo considers the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Western allies as "necessary allies, and to which it owes its liberation and independence."

"But we cannot hand over our democratic republic to a fascist militia, which is paid by an autocrat in Belgrade."

Escobar: The tensions in the north were avoidable

Before Kurti, the American envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, has previously declared for the BBC.

He said that the escalation of tensions in the north of Kosovo was avoidable.

“Ky përshkallëzim ka qenë pjesërisht rezultat i mosgatishmërisë së palës kosovare që ta dëgjojë komunitetin ndërkombëtar. Ajo i ka provokuar tensionet, në mënyrë të panevojshme, duke insistuar në shfrytëzimin e objekteve komunale. Escobar ka përsëritur se duhet të thyhet cikli i dhunës dhe se të dyja palët, si Kosova, ashtu edhe Serbia, kanë përgjegjësi për të vepruar në atë drejtim.

“Shumë pjesëtarë të komunitetit ndërkombëtar janë duke e parë këtë situatë si përbalje në mes të Kosovës dhe Serbisë. Por na duhet ta kujtojmë se këtu ekziston edhe një dështim për arritur pajtim etnik brenda Kosovës. Ne i kemi inkurajuar të dyja palët që të angazhohen në dialog”.

Më 30 maj, ambasadori amerikan në Kosovë, Jeffrey Hovenier, ka thënë se si pasojë e moskoordinimit të Qeverisë së Kosovës me SHBA-në, për veprimet në veri, Prishtina është përjashtuar nga stërvitjet më të mëdha ushtarake të aleatëve të NATO-s në rajonin e Ballkanit, Defender Europe 2023.

I pyetur se çfarë kërkon aktualisht SHBA-ja nga Kurti, ai ka thënë se kryeministrit të Kosovës i janë dhënë shumë porosi.

“Ne e kemi porositur atë që t’i tërheqë kryetarët nga ndërtesat komunale, që t’i largojë zyrtarët policorë nga ndërtesat, dhe që më pas, me urgjencë, të nisin diskutimet për formim të Asociacionit të komunave me shumicë serbe”.

Kosova dhe Serbia kanë arritur marrëveshje për Asociacionin më 2013 dhe më pas më 2015 mbi parimet për themelimin e tij.

Po më 2015, Gjykata Kushtetuese e Kosovës ka gjetur se marrëveshja nuk është në harmoni të plotë me Kushtetutën.

Serbia kërkon që Kosova të zbatojë marrëveshjet e arritura, por Qeveria e Kosovës është deklaruar kundër një asociacioni njëetnik.

Një ditë më parë, Bashkimi Evropian, po ashtu, ka kërkuar nga Kosova që t’i pezullojë operacionet policore në afërsi të komunave, dhe ka kërkuar që Kosova të mbajë zgjedhje të jashtëzakonshme në komunat në veri.
