Major floods on Greek island / Roads 'invaded' by water, movement difficulties

The Greek island of Skiathos suffered major flooding in many areas, as roads turned into raging rivers. 

The bad weather has caused serious problems on the road network and the Greek Police are calling for maximum caution.

Greek media report that heavy rainfall has caused flooding across the island, with traffic problems especially on the ring road, where traffic is moving very slowly.

Points such as Vasilias, Achladies, Kolios and Agia Paraskevi are facing serious difficulties, while the Platanias area has turned into a stream, making passage almost impossible.

Residents and visitors have expressed concern as the conditions are extreme and dangerous, with a situation that could serve as a source of accidents./CNA
