After the attacks in Qatar/ Macron: "Spiral of chaos" must end

French President Emmanuel Macron is calling for a return to diplomacy to end what he calls a "spiral of chaos" after Iran targeted a US military base in Qatar.

 "I express France's solidarity with Qatar, which has been attacked by Iran on its soil. I am in close contact with the country's authorities and our partners in the region. I call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, calm the situation and return to the negotiating table. This spiral of chaos must end," Macron wrote.

Before Macron's social media post on X, Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told France 2 television that the missile attacks, which had caused no casualties, were a "dangerous escalation" and called on all parties to show restraint. /CNA
