Norway promises 1 billion euros in additional aid to Ukraine

Norway has pledged an additional 1 billion euros (£865.4 million; $1.04 billion) to support Ukraine for the rest of 2022 and 2023, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said.

He said the money would be given to help Ukraine support people in need, to protect itself from Russia and to rebuild infrastructure destroyed by Russian missiles, the BBC reports.

Norway has so far contributed around 202 million euros (£175 million; $210 million) to support Ukraine and its neighboring countries in response to Russia's military aggression, the Norwegian government said.

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has also proposed a macro-financial aid of 1 billion euros for Ukraine./ CNA.al
