NATO Secretary General Rutte stated today that Russia is acting recklessly regarding the situation with Ukraine.
Through this stance, Rutte responded to statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin following the attack on tankers in the Black Sea by Ukraine.
"Russia is acting recklessly. We are all working to end the war against Ukraine with a just and lasting peace. We welcome the continued efforts led by the United States to make this a reality. I am convinced that these sustained efforts will ultimately restore peace in Europe," Rutte said.
The statements come after several developments in the Black Sea in recent days. While hopes for peace in the war between Ukraine and Russia are being discussed, two tankers that went to Russia last week were attacked.
While Ukraine claimed responsibility for the attacks, President Putin declared that Russia would increase attacks on Ukrainian ships. /CNA
