Protests flare up against Netanyahu: He is not doing anything for the hostages

Thousands of Israelis have taken to the streets to protest against the policies of the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, on the issue of hostages in the hands of Hamas.

On Sunday, protesters gathered in front of the Parliament in Jerusalem, demanding new elections.

Much of the world, as Deutsche Welle points out, no longer believes that the issue of the release of the hostages can be resolved militarily, and therefore they demand elections.

More than a hundred tents have been erected in front of the Israeli parliament in Jerusalem as part of a four-day protest against Benjamin Netanyahu's government and military ground operations in the Gaza Strip. Tens of thousands of people participated in the protest today.

Activists are calling for the resignation of the government, new elections and a deal to release hostages held by Hamas.

The families of the hostages have appealed to Prime Minister Netanyahu that the group of Israeli negotiators not return home without a deal to release the hostages.

"Mr. Prime Minister, we the families of the hostages speak on behalf of all Israeli citizens and the Jewish people who understand that the release of prisoners is sacred. We ask you: instruct the negotiating team not to return without an agreement. Give the murdered hostages the honor of a dignified burial on Israeli soil. We are with you!"- says the appeal addressed to Netanyahu.
