Minister Sveçla reacts: Vucic uses Kosovo to cause tensions in the region

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, said in a television interview that the security situation in the four northern municipalities is calm, but also fragile.

Sweden has called Belgrade's approach towards Kosovo destructive.

Minister Svecla emphasized that the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and his government have used the territory of Kosovo to cause tensions in the region as well.

"The situation in the four municipalities of northern Kosovo is currently calm, but fragile. Fragile because of tensions from time to time, but also because of a destructive attitude of Belgrade against Kosovo, against this area, but also against our citizens of Serbian nationality. Belgrade, specifically Vu?i? and his government, depending on their internal policies, have used the Kosovo Serbs, have used this territory to cause tensions not only for the Republic of Kosovo, but tensions in the region and beyond. Wanting to blackmail, first Kosovo, but also the international community", said Sveçla.

The Interior Minister of Kosovo also spoke about the dinar issue.

Xelal Sveçla said that the decision is normal for a country that aspires to be part of the EU and NATO.

"We are an independent and sovereign state, and we must also be a normal, independent and sovereign state. We aspire to nothing more than to be a democratic country, where order and law reign. And whether it is the decision about the dinar, or the earlier decisions about license plates, about electricity, these are more than normal decisions of a country that aspires to be part of the EU and NATO," he said.

Speaking of dinars, today the emissary of the European Union, Miroslav Lajcak, announced that on Thursday he will be waiting for a meeting in Brussels with the chief negotiator of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, and the negotiator of Serbia, Petar Petkovic.

He said he hopes the remaining disputes will be resolved.

"The week before the Easter break was a short but intense week. On Monday, I received in Brussels the chief negotiators of Kosovo, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi and of Serbia, Director Petkovic, to continue our discussions to find a workable solution for the people affected by the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo. All in all, it has been a useful meeting. Both parties had the opportunity to explain their ideas and positions", Sveçla wrote./ CNA
