General Christopher Cavoli, NATO's Supreme Commander for Europe, has authorized more NATO troops to be sent to Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a time when the region is under threat from third parties.

Reporting before the US Senate, General Cavoli said that NATO should send not only more troops, but also heavier artillery to Kosovo, while he appreciated the role of France, whose aircraft carrier is located in the Adriatic Sea.

"We have done a review of the plan and it showed that we need not only more forces, but also heavier NATO artillery to be deployed in the region. Troops in Bosnia and Herzegovina and those of KFOR in Kosovo must be increased for surveillance, detection and to monitor threats against them", said General Cavoli.

NATO's Supreme Allied Commander for Europe has considered Russia a "chronic threat" to the world, while he finds the fact of the creation of a strategic alliance between Russia, China, Iran and North Korea disturbing.

"We are facing challenging times, to say the least, in the European theater. Russia's brutal and unprovoked war has devastated Ukraine for more than two years. Russian forces are destroying cities and destroying innocent lives on a scale not seen since World War II. These countries are creating interlocking strategic partnerships in an effort to challenge the existing order. This is deeply hostile to US national interests," Cavoli said.CNA
