Weather, airport delays hamper Americans' Christmas travel

Millions of Americans across the US are bracing for severe weather conditions over the Christmas holiday, with storms threatening to further disrupt one of the busiest travel periods.

On the East Coast, the first winter storm blanketed cities from Boston to Baltimore with ice and snow.

Meanwhile, residents of California are cleaning up the aftermath of a storm that brought hurricane-force winds, flooding and one fatality.

The weather will further complicate travel plans for America, which is already facing delays after American Airlines grounded flights due to a technology problem.

On the east coast, snow, ice is expected to affect travel.
