Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has said that the West is not interested in negotiations for a peace settlement in Ukraine because it wants to earn as much money as possible for its military-industrial complex, Russian media Tass reports.

"Their speculation that the time has come to come to the negotiating table and start peace talks just shows how cunning they are. They don't want that at all. They want to keep the military flywheel moving to make money for budgets" , Medvedev said during a visit to the Army-2023 forum.

He said Russian soldiers were "very successful" in burning Western-supplied equipment and would continue to do so.

"But we have to keep in mind that this is only part of the story, and the rest is the US military-industrial complex, and the European one as well, is making money off of this. And this is one way for them to big profits by supplying their equipment to Ukraine. They are making money in this war," Medvedev explained./ CNA
